Inspired by a Song- Love You Like A Love Song

Nail art inspired by the song- "Love You Like A Love Song" using Nicole by OPI Selena Gomez "Love Song" polish

Day 22 of the 31 Day Challenge is nail art that is inspired by a song.  I chose the song "Love You Like A Love Song" by Selena Gomez & the Scene.  I actually have a Nicole by OPI polish from the Selena Gomez collection called "Love Song" which I thought was perfect for it!  It's a pretty shade of purple and one of my favorites.  I used that as the base and then kept the nail art design simple.  I used a nail art pen to paint on music notes.  On my ring finger I used Sinful Colors "Boom Boom" polish to paint a heart and add some more color to the notes.

Violet with Gray's Anatomy Nail Polish

Violet with Gray's Anatomy Nail Polish

Day 6 of the 31 Day Challenge is violet nails.  I wasn't sure about what shade of violet it needed to be so I looked at what other bloggers have done for this prompt in the past and it seemed like most shades of purple would do.  I decided I'd share a mani where I paired a violet color with a nail polish by Wet n Wild called "Gray's Anatomy."  The Gray's Anatomy polish is a very interesting shade.  It seems more purple than gray and also has somewhat of a metallic look.  The color looks different depending on how the light is hitting it. I added some hearts to them with the violet polish. Unfortunately I didn't get the best photo of these with the hearts on them but here's what I have!

Mint and Gold Heart Nails

Mint and Gold heart nails

Here is my mani I did the week before Valentine's.  It was a busy week so I never got around to taking pictures of it before it started chipping!  In fact this is the only photo I have but thought I'd share it anyway.  I painted my nails with a mint polish and then used a gold nail polish to quickly add a heart to the ring finger.  I always have a hard time trying to decide what to pair mint polish with but I think the gold went with it okay.  What do you think?  What colors do you like to pair mint with?

It's a Small World- Hearts Nail Art

I have some more hearts nail art to share with you all today!  If the pattern looks a bit familiar it's because it was inspired by what you could call a very obscure Disney character.  Can you guess who?

If you guessed the jaguar in the ride It's a Small World then you got it (and I'm really impressed because I don't think I would have even guessed it)!

On "it's a small world", you ride through many different countries including a rainforest in Brazil.  The rainforest section is my husband's favorite part of the ride and I still remember how sad we were when there were rumors that they were going to get rid of it when they did the refurbishment in 2008.  Luckily it's still there although it seems a bit smaller.  It was around that time that we ended up decorating one of our bathrooms with a It's a Small World RAINFOREST theme.  So when we saw they had the stuffed animal jaguar from it for sale at the Disney Store, we decided to add it to our collection.

I really love his heart-shaped spots and when I was trying to think of some Valentine hearts to paint on my nails- he came to mind!

I like how it turned out especially since the bright yellow is so cheerful.  I got several compliments on them and my hubby even wanted me to start carrying the jaguar around so people could see where the pattern came from!  I didn't carry him around (he a little too big for my purse) but I got some pictures with a friend of his at Disney California Adventure on the day I was wearing yellow and purple to match.

Now that I probably have the "It's a Small World" song in your head, here's a video from the blog, Theme Park Insider, that has a video of the ride.  You can spot jaguar and his rainforest section at around 8:10 in  the video.

What do you think of my Small World jaguar nails?  Do you remember the jaguar from the ride?

I hope you all enjoyed today's nail art and in case I don't have time to post again before the weekend- Happy Valentine's Day!

If you are interested in getting your own It's a Small World stuffed animal,  they currently still have some for sale on the Disney Store website!

Blue and White Heart Nails

Since Valentine's Day is this coming week, I'm going to share some heart nail art that I did last August while my husband and I were celebrating the 10 year anniversary of when we first met.

Blue is both of our favorite colors so I used blue polish and then some white polish to paint a heart on one my nails.  The white polish I used was older and in bad shape so it definitely didn't turn out as planned but I sort of fixed it by using a toothpick to add some white shading around the heart.  I also added some glitter polish (pixie dust!) to a couple of the other nails.
My nails are uneven because I had broken a nail but I still tried to make them look their best!  :)

It's kind of funny how when I first started this blog, it felt like I didn't have enough content and would post my nail art the same week that I painted it.  Somehow over the last months I started painting my nails more often than I was able to post so now I have several photos of different manis I still need to share.  This is one of those!  Hopefully I'll get around to sharing the rest soon.  It has been fun to look back at nail art I had forgotten about!

Mickey and Minnie Nails at Disney World!

I’m back from my vacation!  My husband and I had a nice time running around all the parks at Disney World!  I didn’t have a lot of time to do nail art before our trip but the night before we left I was feeling awake so I decided to paint my nails real quick before bed!  I had to rush on it more than I would like but the overall look seemed okay in the end despite a bit of the polishes running together when I used my top coat.
Because we were heading to Disney World on Valentine’s Day, I wanted to do nail art inspired by Minnie and Mickey Mouse.  With all the vacation fun I didn’t take a lot of photos of the result.  In fact the only pictures I got were from the trip itself!  So this will be more of a ‘Where in Disney World is Carmen Sandiego  Nerissa’s Manicure'  type of post.  ;-)

Here’s the best picture I got of this manicure.  It was taken at the airport next to my favorite suitcase.

Hearts Nails- Valentine's Mani

Valentine's Day is on Thursday so it's time for some hearts nail art!

I used the colors in a new polish set that my husband got for me.  It was really sweet of him!

I love that the name of the Lancome set is Vernis in Love and thought it was fitting that I use it to freehand some hearts onto my nails!  The names of the colors are Noir Caviar, Midnight Rose, and Rouge Reglisse.  I used a silver polish out of my Kiss Nail Artist kit to outline the hearts.

I really liked how it came out and got this picture of my thumbnail dotting the "i" on the California Pizza Kitchen menu on a lunch date with my husband.

Valentine's Day definitely isn't my favorite but it is close to President's Day which is a holiday for me and this year it also means it's time for my vacation!  So I guess you could say I am much more enthusiastic about it approaching than usual.  :)  I hope everyone has a happy Valentine's Day!
